Conversion adapters,
gas diffusers
To help simplify
the ordering,
stocking, tracking, and usage of
several consum-
able brands, Bernard® offers conversion adapters and gas diffusers that fit
its Centerfire™ contact tips and nozzles to all major GMAW gun brands.
Using the conversion adapters
and/or gas diffusers, companies need
to stock just one style of contact tip
for each size. The manufacturer states
that with one brand of consumable,
there is less chance a welder will grab
the wrong tip and make a return trip
to the tool crib.
Nozzle orifice sizes are from 1⁄ 2 to 3⁄ 4
in. in diameter. Brass or copper tapered
nozzles also are available in large or
small sizes. Built-in spatter shields protect the gas diffusers and facilitate
smoother, less turbulent gas flow.
Contact tips accommodate wire
from 0.023 to 1⁄ 8 in. in diameter. They
are designed with a “drop-in” style for
changeover without tools and quick
replacement after burnbacks. They
also help increase electrical conductivity and heat transfer.

Blind rivet fastener
The HuckLok™ blind rivet fastener,
a high-strength structural rivet from
Alcoa Fastening Systems, offers a 1⁄4-
in. grip range, joining a range of
assemblies from truck bodies to
HVAC.
This range allows the rivet to join
assemblies from 1⁄ 8 to 7⁄ 8 in. thick. The
fastener’s large footprint, or “bulb,”
spreads the load over a broader area to
help make the joint more durable.
The grip range is a result of the
rivet’s shear ring. After the maximum
clamp has been achieved from minimum to maximum grip, the shear ring
breaks free from the pin and settles
into the appropriate catch groove.
The clamp is consistent through the
grip range.
Designed for use with a variety of
the company’s air-actuated tooling,
including the new 2024(L) tools, the
rivets install within seconds and
require a quick visual inspection to
confirm accurate set.
