Reason #12 to choose DE-STA-CO:
Our new 2000 Series Horizontal Hold-Down Action Clamps
provide unmatched performance and ergonomics.
Portable plasma cutter
The Spectrum® 375
X-TREME™ plasma cutter from
Miller Electric Mfg.
Co. weighs 18 lbs.
but provides the
cutting capacity of machines twice its
size, the company reports.
The operator selects the correct
( 115 V/15 amps or 230V/50 amps)
Multi-Voltage Plug (MVP™) for the
power supply and connects it to the
power cord. The plug can be switched
in seconds without the need for tools.
Rated for 3⁄ 8 in. on mild steel and 1⁄ 4
in. on aluminum, the plasma cutter is
designed for maintenance and HVAC
applications, as well as construction
applications such as notching I-beams
and cutting steel studs, steel roofs, and
sheet metal. At 6 IPM, the unit can
cut 1⁄2-in. mild steel.
An internal filter and factory-set
regulator eliminate the need for the
operator to adjust the air pressure.
Once connected to a 90-PSI-mini-
mum air compressor, the unit automatically regulates internal air pressure to the torch. A standard air connection on the back panel provides
for gas or air hookup.
The company’s Auto-Line™ technology automatically connects to
115- to 230-V, single-phase power. It
also adjusts for spikes or losses in
input voltage levels while maintaining a constant cutting arc with little
or no cutting capacity loss.

CAM software
SmartCAMcnc has added the ACIS®
3-D modeling kernel from Spatial
Technologies and the OpenGL 3-D
graphics interface to its SmartCAM
V14 applications, providing solid-model import, export, and display
capability. System requirements have
been upgraded in support of these
enhancements.
The addition of the modeling
engine gives users the ability to work
directly from ACIS solids or IGES
surface models. The industry-standard
graphics provide users with dynamic
viewing and shaded surface picking of
solid models in the main graphics
window.
