SPC software
Avance Control has released Avance
3.0, an integrated quality control tool
designed to acquire data and calculate
statistical control of processes in real
time. It offers flexible charting, OPC
clients, data analysis tools, and a
python scripting integrated environment for data analysis.
The SPC software was developed
for nontechnical manufacturers and
engineers who need quality control
tools. It manages, in real time, data
from manual input, Excel spread-sheets, text files, serial connections
(RS-232), and OPC servers.
Features include options for view-
ing control charts, such as moving
windows and interactive subgroup
selection; serial data acquisition; real-time data acquisition and SPC; capability reports; and addition of specification limits to any variable.

Cartridge-type dust collector
Guyson Corp. has
introduced the model
D500 cartridge-type
dust collector. The
compact unit has a
footprint 23 in. wide
and 34. 25 in. deep,
with a height of 79. 5
in. Its nonferrous
blower assembly is
powered by a 1.5-HP TEFC motor
and generates air extraction capacity
of 500 CFPM.
The pleated paper filter cartridge
has 226 sq. ft. of filter area. It is pre-treated with flame retardant and fac-tory-precoated to yield an average
efficiency of 99. 9 percent for particles
of 0.5 micron and larger.
No run-in period is required for the
filter to reach full efficiency. The cartridge is held by a slide-in carrier plate
and is sealed and locked in position by
lever-action clamps.
Dust is purged from the cartridge
by a reverse pulse cleaning system
during operation. The operator pushes a button, and a brief and measured
burst of compressed air is directed
inside the cartridge, instantly discharging dust from the entire area of
the filter. Microprocessor-controlled,
automatic pulsing is available as an
option.
On the front of the unit, a color-coded manometer gauge displays the
pressure differential between the
clean and dusty sides of the filter. This
feature indicates when the filter is
becoming clogged and when the cartridge needs replacement.

Air knife mounting system
Exair’s universal air knife mounting
system provides positioning for air
knives used to blow off, dry, and cool.
At the end of each production run,
the air knife can be moved quickly to
within close proximity of the next
part. The supply pressure of the compressed air can be lowered to help
reduce air consumption.
The system has a stainless steel
construction that is suitable for a variety of industrial applications. The
adjusting knobs lock all pivoting
joints securely in place. The arm of
the mounting system provides a maximum reach extension of 30 in.
