Robotic welding cell
The new Motoman ArcWorld®
IV-6200 system
features dual
EA1400N Expert
Arc welding robots
with multiple robot control, a high-speed Ferris-wheel positioner, integrated welding package, operator
interface, and a total safety environment. Independent drive on each of
the three positioner axes allows the
operator to index the load station or
allows both stations to turn while the
positioner sweeps, saving cycle time.
The MRM2-250/750M3X positioner is available with 551.3- or
1,653.8-lb. payloads, indexing in 1.5
and 2. 25 seconds, respectively. It
comes in standard lengths of 78. 74
and 118.11 in. between mounting
surfaces but can be extended. The
turning diameter of 51. 2 in. accommodates large parts and tooling.
The positioner uses independent
servomotor drives on each of its three
axes for high-speed positioning. This
allows fixtures to rotate into working
position while the main sweep axis
indexes between stations. The operator also can jog the load station if
manual tack welding is required.
The MotoMount™ fixture mounting system eliminates stresses from
poor fixture alignment from being
transferred into the bearings or servo
drives. It also provides a horizontal
mounting surface with locating pins
for easier fixture changeover.
The workcell is available with
two, three, or four welding robots
controlled from a single teach pendant. In addition, the single- and
dual-robot AWIV variations are
available with the longer-reach
EA1900N robot.

Pipe end prep tool
An ID-clamping end prep tool for
severing and then beveling and facing
superduplex, stainless steel pipe, and
other hard pipe used in subsea
pipelines is available from Esco Tool.
The Prepzilla MILLHOG® pipe
milling and end prep tool features a
rigid blade lock system and T- 15 tool
steel cutter blade that transfers heat
away from the pipe surface to the chip.
It can sever an 8-in. Sch. 160 pipe in
10 minutes and can then compound
bevel and face it simultaneously.
The tool has only one mandrel and
eight sets of clamps for prepping pipe
from 1.5 in. ID to 8.625 in. OD.
Generating 1,500 ft.-lbs. of torque at
the cutting blade, this tool employs
dual opposed tapered roller bearings
for rigidity and can pull a thick chip
without cutting oils.

Fineblanking press
The Feintool Group has introduced
an extended-table fineblanking press.
The HFAplus LT has a double-size
tool table that can accommodate
multistage modular tools and total
press forces of between 496 and 1,212
tons.
According to the company, this
allows output to be doubled and reduces parts costs by about 20 percent.
