Hyd-Mech Group Ltd., Woodstock, Ont., has formed an alliance
with industrial saw manufacturer
Soitaab Impianti, with headquarters
in Milan, for the exclusive distribution rights in North America.
Soitaab’s lineup of large horizontal
cutoff and plate saws, combined with
Hyd-Mech’s machines, will give customers a choice from small bench-top models to saws with a capacity of
120 in.
American Welding Society,
Miami, has received a $1 million
pledge from Miller Electric Mfg. Co.
and Hobart Brothers Co. to provide
initial funding for the AWS Welder
Workforce Development Program.
The AWS Foundation will use the
donation to fund increased training of
entry-level welders and specialized
training of existing welders to address
the shortage of trained welders in the
U.S.
Select-Arc, Fort Loramie, Ohio,
has completed a 30,000-sq.-ft. addition to its headquarters, expanding its
manufacturing production and warehousing capabilities. The expansion
complements recent growth in the
company’s laboratory testing and
administrative services, as well as the
installation of new manufacturing
equipment, which has enabled the
company to supplement its tubular
welding electrode production output.
Thermadyne Industries Inc., St.
Louis, has donated 10 Thermal Arc
machines, worth about $25,000, to
Arizona Western College’s Institute
of Welding Technology and its
“Welders Without Borders” program.
The program enlists the help of professionals from education, industry,
and government to create educational programs for welding students at
AWC and other locations in the U.S.
and internationally.
