Flap wheels grind stainless steel
Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced a line of Norton Merit Pink
R928 flap wheels and specialties
for grinding stainless steel. This
abrasive material provides faster
cutting and longer life compared
to traditional aluminum-oxide
products, according to the company. The products have a poly-cotton backing for increased life, and they offer a grinding aid for cool
cutting on hard-to-grind materials.
To support these abrasives, the company offers the Norton hand-held
pneumatic die grinder. Its double-bearing spindle helps reduce vibrations.
Adjustment of the speed regulator gives the operator control of the surface finish. The small, lightweight grinder features a nonslip grip. It offers
a free speed of 25,000 RPM for deburring, light to medium surface cleaning and stock removal, welding preparation, and finishing.
Rotary tools finish ID, OD of tube
ends in one operation
Severance Tool has developed a line of tube end finishing rotary tools that
can deburr, form, or chamfer. The tools are designed to finish both the ID
and OD of tubing ends in a single operation.
Available features include adjustable, two-piece construction to accommodate work on same-size tubing with varying wall thicknesses; Chatter-less™ tooth geometry to alternate tooth-cutting angles and eliminate resonant vibration from the tool and workpiece; and Grayhone™ finish that
provides cutting edges ready to work with no break-in period required.
Tube deburring tools are available in high-speed steel or carbide. Designed for light duty, they break sharp edges off the ID and OD simultaneously. The tools operate from 50 to 200 RPM.
Adjustable tube end chamfer mills are designed for heavy-duty cutting
to machine 45-degree-OD and 30-degree-ID chamfers. They are available
for pipe and tubes from 3/16 to 21/2 in. OD.
Tube end forming cutters machine both an ID and OD radius, establishing a smooth, rounded end that is suitable for applications in which tube
may be exposed. They are available in high-speed steel and carbide for
tubes from 1/8 to 21/2 in. OD.
Welding tractor can be used
Abicor Binzel has introduced the Abi-Car
welding tractor. It is available in three models,
including one with an oscillator feature.
Its strong magnet base lets the tractor be
used for horizontal and vertical welding positions. It comes with a variety of cross support
and clamping options for user customization.
