3-D printer produces high-precision metal objects
Digital Metal®, a Höganäs Group
company, has initiated commercial production of what it says is
the industry’s first high-precision
binder jetting 3-D metal printer
that can produce smaller and
more intricate components than
any previous technology.
The DM P2500 is suitable for serial production and customized parts. It prints continuously in 42-;m layers at 100 cc/hr.
without the need for any support structures. Print volume of
2,500 cm3 is available. This makes it possible to manufacture
small objects in high quantities (up to 50,000 parts in one print
run), comprising shapes, geometries, and internal and external finishes.
Resolution is 35 ;m, and average surface roughness is Ra 6
;m before additional finishing processes are applied.

New consumables available
for air plasma systems
ables for more Powermax air plasma
systems. The consumables are designed
to work at 45 amps on Powermax45 XP,
65, 85, and 105 systems.
The consumables feature an angled
nozzle bore that delivers the plasma arc
at a 45-degree angle. Instead of locating
the nozzle opening at the tip, the nozzle
orifice is located on the side. This bends
the plasma arc, causing it to exit the
torch at an angle nearly parallel to the
workpiece. This allows the operator to
cut more flush to the base metal, reducing the amount of material le; behind
and reducing grinding time.
Air blowo; device
dries complex shapes
The Nozzle Bar®
from Maxum is a
patented air blowo; device that
looks and installs like an air knife but offers the full blowo; power of individual
air nozzles. Its internal nozzle system
is customizable, providing the force required to reach deep cavities and varying part shapes and distances.
Using converging and laminar flow
technology, the unit delivers air to the
part in a strong, fast, concentrated form
to help improve e;iciency and reduce
energy usage, the company reports.
Aluminum wheels prevent
loading on cutting and grinding
Group has introduced the new
cutting wheels, grinding wheels, and
combo wheels. They are designed with
a nonloading formula that helps keep
them from gumming up.
The wheels feature a blend of cutting
grains that deliver a consistently high
cut rate throughout the life of the products, and they are contaminant-free, the
manufacturer reports. The wheels are
suitable for aluminum cutting, grinding, stock removal, weld removal, weld
blending, beveling, and chamfering.
