Plate bender can function
like four-roll or three-roll machine
C Marshall Fabrication Machinery offers
the MG Synthesis System four-roll plate
bending machine. It includes the standard motorization of the two central rolls;
however, the side rolls can turn freely like
a standard four-roll machine or be motorized like a three-roll machine as required.
On a traditional three-roll bending machine, without the fourth roll securely
pinching the plate, the rotation reference point may be lost because of plate
slippage. On this new machine, however, the lower central roll ascends and
pinches the plate to prevent slippage.
On traditional four-roll machines, during the rerolling phase, the lower central roll is not used and only the top roll remains powered while the side rolls
spin freely. However, on the new machine, the operator can engage the side-roll motorization with the turn of a key and work with the top and side rolls

Compact waterjet cutter suitable
for prototyping, low-volume cutting
The ProtoMAX® abrasive waterjet from OMAX® Corp. is a
compact, self-installed cutting system suitable for prototyping and relatively low-volume cutting of almost
any material less than 2 in. thick. It is designed for use
in small job shops, engineering classrooms, and for personal use, or as an addition for large shops that need occasional waterjet capabilities.
The unit delivers 30,000-PSI cutting power with a 5-HP
pump. It cuts with no HAZ and no change to the material properties. The pump
and cutting table are on casters for portability. Work material is submerged
under water for clean, quiet cutting that won’t disrupt a shared workspace.

Upgrades added to
automated barrier panel
Rite-Hite Machine Guarding has reintroduced its Vertiguard automated barrier
panel with several new upgrades. The bot-tom-up pneumatic panel provides physical
separation between machine operators and
manufacturing processes. It is suitable for
small interaction points with single or double robotic cells, part assembly, and conveyor openings.
The panel offers a compact footprint and protects workers from applica-tion-driven hazards. The pneumatically operated, vertically rising system also
allows for overhead crane loading. In addition, the low-profile design helps
prevent back injuries, since it requires minimal reach-in to load parts.
The standard size has been increased to 110 by 96 in. (from 72 by 86 in.).
Other upgrades include improved finger guard, new brand cylinder and flange
mount with center support, improved sliding panel design, improved interlock switch brackets and additional switch options, and galvanized steel back
panel and cylinder cover.

Magnetic-base drill processes
Slugger by Fein has introduced the JME Holemaker III. This
magnetic-base drill has a fiber-reinforced motor housing
for light weight and durability. The updated magnet allows
users to work with ¼-in. materials, and the motor speed is
suitable for use with high-strength steel or carbide cutters.
The drill comes with four centering pins (31/8 in.), a touch
guard, and a safety strap. Storage for Allen keys is built in.
