Mother tube calculator made for tube producers, product designers
JMC Rollmasters Div. of Johnston Mfg.
Co. Inc. has developed and published
the Amazing Mother Tube Calcula-tor™ for tube and pipe producers and
product designers. The online calculator uses mathematical algorithms
incorporating gauge thickness and
bend ratio data to estimate girth changes caused by bending
deformation and compression.
The initial release of this calculator outputs dimensional
data as well as the estimated round or “mother tube” required
to produce square, rectangular, flat-sided, and four-arc ellipti-
cal ovals. To assist product designers, the calculator can solve
four-arc elliptical ovals when only three of four variables are
known, and flag texts prevent unusable data entry. Custom di-
alog text windows can be opened to explain key features and
functions. The calculator is available at jmcrolls.com.

HFI welding machine requires
Emmedi, part of the Ajax Tocco Magne-thermic® Corp. global family of companies, has introduced the Mosweld (SiC)
high-frequency, solidstate induction
welding machine for ERW production
tube mills. It is equipped with four high-amperage Mosfet silicon carbide transistors, which help increase reliability and
efficiency in high-frequency induction
welding while decreasing floor space
requirements, the company states.
Output power exceeds 800 kW, and
the system accommodates a contact
head for continuous contact welding.
Compact magnetic-base drill
fits in tight spaces
Fein has added
the JMC USA
drill to its Slugger line. Its low-profile design
and high-powered motor make the drill suitable for
use (up to 13/8 in.) in tight spaces.
The 1,100-W motor offers high-speed
stability and forward/reverse rotation.
The drill allows a 3/8-in. ratchet to be fitted on either side of the drill for use in
