Compact laser cell welds small, round components
German Machine Tools of America
(GMTA) now o;ers the Arnold compact
laser cell for welding small, round components. Available with CO2 or solid-state lasers, the cell o;ers onboard loading and CNC programming capabilities
for mass production or small batches.
Workpieces are loaded into the rotary carousel, either
manually or by robotic automation available from GMTA. The
workpiece then is li;ed into position, clamped, rotated in the
C axis, and laser welded. A new workpiece is loaded during the
The company also o;ers the Arnold two-station laser cell,
which o;ers laser welding of axial and radial seams and an integrated pressing function. The optics move on a cantilevered
arm to the individual workstations, processing seams without
changeover of the swiveling optic head.

MES enables real-time
IMCO Associates Inc. has partnered with
Alpha 3i to introduce Alpha’s Cimag
manufacturing execution system (MES)
in the U. S. Cimag-MES enables manufacturing companies to collect data automatically in real time. The modular, flexible system seamlessly interfaces with a
variety of ERP and other legacy systems.
According to the company, the so;ware helps companies in a variety of
industries to decrease manufacturing
costs, minimize cycle times, avoid delays, prevent inventory imbalances, increase operator e;iciency, and improve
quality and productivity.
The MES helps enhance communications between the manufacturing and
support teams. Maintenance, quality
control, housekeeping, and EHS can re-act promptly to help minimize downtime.
cabinet automated with robot
VisiConsult X-ray Systems & Solutions GmbH has introduced the
XRH111+Robot, a combination of the
XRH111 cabinet for comprehensive X-ray inspection of small to medium-size
parts and an ABB robot. Its modular
setup allows manual inspection, automated defect recognition, and computed tomography in a single unit.
The system can be placed directly at
the production line to take parts from a
tray or conveyor belt and place them inside the cabinet. It o;ers 100 percent 3-D
analysis of the parts. Typical checks are
wall thickness analysis, porosity analysis, and nominal-actual comparison.
