Renishaw 3-D printers to create high-speed aerospace turbines
Britain-based Renishaw has
announced that its metal 3-D
printers will help develop high-speed turbine blades for the
aerospace industry. Through
Spanish subsidiary Renishaw
Ibérica, the company will join
a number of Spanish engineering enterprises on the Futuralve project. The project also includes engine manufacturer ITP.
The four-year project aims to develop new technologies
for high-speed aerospace turbines. Working at the Centre for
Advanced Aerospace Technologies in Seville, Spain, Renishaw
will 3-D print the high-performance, complex, lightweight
parts and also provide the technology to measure and qualify
The project will use Renishaw´s Sprint on-machine tool
contact system, which increases the number of scanned
points on parts to allow precise machining and reduced measurement times.
