New plasma class cuts mild steel, stainless, aluminum
Hypertherm has introduced a new class of plasma called X-Definition™. It is available for the first time in a 300-amp plasma system called the XPR300™ for high-definition cutting of
mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Laboratory testing shows ISO-9013 Range 2 cut quality
on thin mild steel and extended ISO Range 3 cuts on thicker
metals, the company reports. The technology incorporates
patent-pending processes such as Vented Water Injection™,
plasma dampening, and vent-to-shield technologies. The end
result is squarer cut edges, markedly less angularity, and ex-
cellent surface finish on nonferrous metals, according to the
Piercing capability also is improved with increased power
and an argon-assist process that enables 30 percent thicker
piercing on mild steel and a 20 percent increase on stainless
steel, the company states.
prevents machine operator
LLC has introduced a new cable
assembly featuring cam operation for fast, positive stopping of metalworking machines without
the risk of tripping caused by vibrations.
The CLM510 assembly also serves as
an awareness barrier on the back side
of shears and press brakes, as well as
around the perimeter of other hazardous areas, for reducing risk.
The e-stop assembly includes a push-button switch with red mushroom-head
button, indicator light and bulb, 21 ;. of
red PVC-covered steel cable, and cable
tension kit. Because the cable is interlocked with the switch, it will actuate
an emergency stop if pulled or removed
from a hook, leaving the machine inoperable. Machinery cannot restart until
the switch is reset.
studs and stando;s designed
for thin metals
from PennEn-gineering® install permanently in thin
metal assemblies to provide strong and
reusable threads for mating hardware
while preserving a smooth appearance
on the side of the sheet opposite installation. The concealed-head feature sat-isfies ingress protection requirements
in assemblies where a sheet must remain completely sealed from air, liquid,
dust, and gases.
The fasteners install in steel or aluminum sheets as thin as 0.062 in. Studs
(aluminum or stainless steel) are available in thread sizes #4-40 through #10-32
and M3 through M5 and in lengths from
0.250 through 1 in. Stando;s (stainless
steel) are o;ered in thread sizes #4-40
through 1/4-20 and M3 through M6 and
in lengths from 0.187 through 1 in.
