Automated bending plus robotics
Amada’s new HG
1003 ARs combines an ultrapre-cise press brake
and a 6-axis robot
to increase precision and process reliability.
An integrated camera system eliminates positioning errors when picking
up sheets of material and helps to ensure precise loading. The camera records the position of the material (which
may have been misaligned on the stack)
and transmits this information to the
robot. Even small discrepancies can be
detected and compensated for as early
as sheet pickup. During production, an
angle measurement system monitors
bending operations in real time.
Automatic Gripper Changer (AGC)
and an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC)
are available. When a program requiring
a different gripper is loaded, the robot
automatically positions itself at the appropriate gripper station and completes
the change. Similarly, the ATC swaps
tools and ensures that they are precisely positioned, eliminating the need for
position checks. This reduces tool setup
time and eliminates errors, states the

Self-clinching threaded fasteners
offers variations of
nuts, studs, and standoffs designed to
allow for close-to-edge placement in
thin metal assemblies without compromising the host sheet or fastener. Their
engineering reduces the standard minimum distance for hole-centerline-to-edge required for successful clinching.
Upon installation, the metal fastener
threads accept mating hardware to complete the attachment process. They will
withstand repeated disassembly and
reattachment of components without
affecting fastener or thread integrity,
reliability, and performance. The clinch
fasteners ultimately lock into place; become permanent parts of an assembly;
and will not rotate, loosen, or fall out.
Redesigned magnetic drill
HMD904 portable magnetic
drill has been
with many additional features. The drill
includes a powerful motor and gearbox
for holes up to 1.5 in. dia. through 2-in.-
New features include an LED pilot
light for working in low-light conditions,
a two-stage magnet that engages full
power when the motor is turned on, new
arbor system for quicker attachment of
accessories, a hex wrench holder, more
ergonomic housing, and a D-ring for
quickly attaching the safety chain.
Several accessories are available for
using twist drills, countersinks, tapping,
and pipe drilling.
The drill is available in a variety of
configurations, including one with a

Shears, press brakes
Betenbender Mfg. Inc. offers shears,
press brakes, and C-frame punches and
presses. The shears are 4 to 14 ft. with
capacities from 10 ga. to 1.25 in. Press
brakes are 20 to 750 tons in lengths from
4 to 16 ft.
Custom machines can be built to
meet specific applications.
Betenbender Mfg. Inc.
has added a new
to its line of beveling equipment.
The model 9000
Bevel-Mill produces bevels up to 1.1875
in. Suitable for weld preparation beveling, the unit uses standard carbide
inserts in a milling cutter for beveling
most machinable materials including
mild steel, aluminum, and stainless
The machine is self-supporting on the
workpiece and is hand-fed by the operator along the edge of the plate at up to
6 FPM. It also features variable angle adjustments from 15 to 45 degrees.
