The site offers intuitive navigation, improved functionality,
enhanced product information, an online store, design and
planning tools and resources, technical data, and videos.
It also offers the 80/20 University to help customers understand concepts and product features so they can narrow down
choices and find the most appropriate system.
The 25 mechanics have been given a
three-year contract to continue working
at their respective companies. In addition to Schuler, the companies include
the auto part suppliers Allgaier, ThyssenKrupp Presta, ThyssenKrupp Materials, LuK, Gestamp, and PWO. All partner
firms have facilities in the vicinity.
In addition to drilling, turning, milling, and grinding machines and numerous workbenches, Cedual also houses
a technical college. As in Germany, the
apprenticeships comprise both theoretical and practical phases. German trainers and Mexican teachers instruct the
apprentices in an audiovisual lecture
hall and three classrooms.
The training costs are covered by the
various partner companies. In addition,
Cedual receives financial support from
the German-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research,
the Mexican state of Puebla, and the
Mexican Ministry of Economics.
As well as providing education for
apprentices, Cedual also offers training
for the employees of companies in the
fields of die and press technology, sinker
EDM, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics,
CNC technology, turning, and milling.
Spectro Analytical Instruments Inc.
has opened an application and demonstration laboratory in Irvine, Calif. It features the company’s instrumentation
and technology for elemental analysis,
including inductively coupled plasma
optical emission spectrometry (
ICP-OES), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass
spectrometry (ICP-MS), and optical
emission spectroscopy using arc and
spark excitation (Arc Spark OES).
The lab gives laboratory managers,
scientists, technicians, and other professionals the opportunity to use the
company’s analyzers and staff of lab
technicians to assist in their application
R&D and troubleshooting projects. It
also will host technical events, training
sessions, and instrument and application demonstrations.
AK Steel, West Chester, Ohio, has received a supplier award for environmental achievement from Honda North
America Inc. The award in the Conservation of Natural Resources category
recognizes AK Steel for a project at its
Rockport, Ind., facility that resulted in
reduced water and energy consumption.
