Kett Tool offers the KD-441 scissor
shears. The unit’s swiping action seals
the edges of the cut material, reducing
the likelihood of rust or corrosion.
The shears use a 5-amp, pistol-grip,
variable-speed electric motor that cuts
through cold-rolled mild steel up to 24
ga., wire mesh to 18 ga., spiral pipe,
and metal studs at speeds up to 2,500
The shears have an adjustable cutting speed that can be tailored. All shear
heads feature A2 tool steel blades.

Annual machine safety checkup
Omron Safety Services offers manufacturers in the metal fabrication
and forming industries an inspection
service to help ensure that machines
such as press brakes, presses, shears,
and cutting machines are safeguarded to applicable regulations.
With this service, an Omron safety
system field inspector checks the ma-
chine’s safeguarding systems, includ-
ing safety device applications, fixed
and movable guards and compliance,
visibility of hazards, point-of-opera-
tion and perimeter guards, energy-
isolation devices, emergency stop,
mechanical power, and transmission
guards. The inspector also reviews
any modifications to the machine’s
location, uses, and addition/removal
of peripheral or auxiliary equipment.
After the inspection is complete,
a report is generated with pass/fail
compliance for each inspection check-
point, along with corrective action rec-
ommendations for failed checkpoints.
All machines that are compliant with
the current safeguarding regulations
receive a dated validation sticker to be
placed on the machine.
