Regulator
Thermadyne® has introduced the Victor®
Professional Edge™ series regulator. The
compact unit has a single point of contact
to help minimize potential impact points
to protect the integrity of the gas delivery
system. Dual built-in gauges are recessed
into the body for additional protection.
The dual gauges feature high-contrast
graphics for improved visibility, and the
color-coded knobs help the user determine the type of gas at a glance.
The regulator offers flow control
across a full range of cylinder pressures,
resulting in a consistent supply for the
downstream application. New features include a bolt-on housing cap for strength
and newly designed internals that deliver
optimum torque and compression to the
diaphragm and internal seals, according
to the manufacturer.

Waterjet cutting system
The Bystronic Byjet L abrasive waterjet cutting system is designed for the processing of large sheet sizes or large volumes of
parts. The modular-construction base frame can be expanded in
6.5-ft. increments based on the end user’s needs.
Models range from the 2030, with a 6.5- by 10-ft. cutting area,
to the 16030, with a 52.5- by 10-ft. cutting area. All models include two High Precision Technology (HPT) abrasive waterjet
cutting heads, each of which features automatic head spacing,
height sensing, and collision protection. Optional third and
fourth cutting heads are available.
Removable cassettes allow for quick
loading and unloading of material. The
use of bulk abrasive
bags is facilitated by
the bulk bag extension kit, allowing the machine to run uninterrupted for longer
periods of time without abrasive replenishment.

Bevel cutting head
Koike Aronson/Ransome Inc. has introduced a lightweight,
automatic contour
bevel cutting head,
compatible with multiple plasma systems.
It features integrated
height sensing that uses ohmic contact
and real-time monitoring of height control
process parameters.
Real-time arc voltage height control
provides arc voltage tracking within 0.1
arc volts. Automatic kerf detection eliminates the need to lock out the height control when crossing the kerf or cornering.
The bevel has full collision detection
for the torch and the bevel unit, as well as
enclosed power tracks.

Fiber lasers
IPG Photonics Corp. has introduced four
new fiber lasers designed as an alternative
to flash lamp-pumped, long-pulse YAG
lasers. The quasi-continuous-wave (QCW)
fiber lasers feature peak pulse powers of
750 W, 1,500 W, 3,000 W, and 5,000 W and
energies from 7. 5 to 50 joules per pulse.
In the long-pulse operation mode, the
YLR-X/Y-QCW-AC lasers are suitable for
spot welding, seam welding, and drilling.
