Laser cutting slat cleaner
The TSC 1 is a
portable power tool
from TRUMPF
that removes slag
from the slats of
laser cutting machines. The tool takes
about 20 min. to clean a standard-sized pallet about 5 by 10 ft.
The operator applies the tool to a
slat row. The tool is self-propelled and
moves across the entire strip width
with light hand guidance, removing
all of the slag that has accumulated on
the row. The operator then turns the
tool around and applies it to the next
row. This continues for as long as it
takes for the entire pallet of the
flatbed machine to be cleaned.
Two spring-loaded roller pairs,
powered by a 1,200-W motor, enable
the automatic carriage to move. The
roller pairs flexibly adapt to slag up to
1 in. in thickness and shatter it during
the forward movement. Even the
worst buildup on slats is not a problem, the company says. The substantial pressure force of the rollers also
straightens out slightly bent edges
automatically.
The slat cleaner can be used on the
flatbed laser machines with pallet
changes from any manufacturer.
Cleaning can be done on one pallet
while the machine is running, using
the other, and the slats don’t have to
be removed.

Mexican flag welding helmet
Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has introduced a new autodarkening welding
helmet inspired by the design of the
Mexican flag. The helmet features red
and white accents on a bright green
metallic background, forming an ornamental design that scrolls around the
surface. The eagle, serpent, and cactus
crest are highlighted on both sides.
It is the first helmet to feature the
company’s new Auto-On and Grind
Mode lens technology. The Auto-On
feature eliminates the need for an
on/off function; the helmet is always
ready to weld but still conserves battery life. The #4 ultraclear light state
provides continuous UV and IR protection. The Grinding Mode function
keeps the helmet in the #4 light state,
prevents darkening of the lens from
grinding sparks, and meets ANSI
Z87.1 and CE/CSA impact standards.

Nitrogen gas pressure monitor
Hyson Products
has introduced
the APM-5800
automatic pressure monitor
that tracks nitrogen gas pressure in
manifold and hosed gas spring systems. Each unit comes with the monitor, cable, and a protective cover.
The monitor offers a measuring
range of 0 to 5,800 PSI. It features a
316 stainless steel process connection
contained in a housing less than 3 in.
long. There are no moving parts, and
LEDs provide status so no calibration
is required.
The operator adjusts the dials to
select set point and reset point. A
locking device protects against unintentional set point changes.
